Corporate Recognition 2000

The generous support of corporate sponsors this past year helped the American Diabetes Association significantly advance its mission: to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.

Corporate America helped us increase funding for diabetes research to its highest level ever and to spearhead innovative diabetes research initiatives.

With corporate support, we strengthened our position the global authority on diabetes, hosting the world's premier research conference on diabetes and publishing the most respected diabetes journals for health care professionals.

Corporate sponsors helped support the Association's camp programs for more than 10,000 children with diabetes, and our special outreach efforts to Hispanics, Native Americans and African Americans, who are disproportionately affected by the disease.

The American Diabetes Association dramatically increased public awareness of the seriousness of diabetes and the importance of early diagnosis and treatment through our toll-free National Call Center, award winning website, consumer publications and many other information and education initiatives.

Corporate donations also helped us advocate at the state and national levels for policies that make a difference in the everyday lives of people with diabetes, such as insurance coverage for the essentials of diabetes care and increased public funding for diabetes research and education.

As diabetes continues to grow as a national health crisis and as the number of people diagnosed with the disease is expected to increase dramatically, the ongoing support of American companies is vital to the fulfillment of our mission.

On behalf of the 16 million Americans with diabetes, we thank you, corporate America. With your steadfast commitment to our research, information and advocacy and advocacy efforts, the American Diabetes Association is able to continue providing both help and hope.

The corporate Recognition Program consists of six (6) designated levels of recognition that are awarded to each company based on total support provided to the Association in a given year. All companies that support the Association in at least two of the following categories are eligible to participate in the program.

  • Educational Grants
  • In-kind Contributions

The highest level of recognition in the Corporate Recognition Program is called the Banting Circle, named for Frederick Banting, the physician who discovered insulin. The award recognizes companies who support the Association’s efforts with at least $500,000 annually. The second level, the Platinum Corporate Sponsor and the third level, the Diamond Corporate Sponsor, each support the Association’s efforts respectively with at least $250,000 and $100,000, annually. Other sponsor levels include Gold ($50,000), Silver ($25,000) and Bronze ($15,000).
