Honorable Judge Polozola:
I was diagnosed with Leukemia when I was 9 years old. I was treated at the Children's Hospital. The doctors there were competent, yet unfriendly. They would tell me that none of my treatments would hurt. When I asked them if they knew this from experience they replied that they did not. None of them could relate to my pain and suffering during this ongoing chemotherapy. I say "unfriendly" because one of my most vivid memories is being pinned to a table by 6 nurses. As the doctor walked in holding a 4-inch needle attached to a longer syringe I started crying in terror. The doctor looked at me and told me to "Shut
up." I endured such painful treatments as bone marrow biopsies, spinal taps, and radiation therapy and for the small time that I was healthy enough to attend school I was forced to endure the ridicule of other children due to my lack of hair.
After a year or so of this type of cancer treatment and 3 blood transfusions my health had deteriorated so much that my doctors were urging my parents to put me in a bubble, as they said this was my last alternative to death. Here, I would not be able to see anyone who came to visit me except from the other side of a plastic wall. This included my parents. My doctors also told my parents that I was certainly going to die but that they would do what they could to prolong my life. They gave me three months to live.
My parents were good enough people to look for an alternative to this life in a cage. My father carried me into an office in Mexico where I met a man named Jimmy Keller who was to be my alternative to life contained in a bubble. We talked and Jimmy told me how he had had cancer and how he had gone through therapy similar to mine. I instantly liked him because I knew he had some inkling of what I was going through unlike my doctors who would mechanically assure me that the 4 inch needle they were about to plunge into my back "Would not hurt a bit".
My parents and I decided to go with him. After several weeks of treatment my health was on the mend. I had color in my face when before I had been as pale as death and I could now walk without help. After a while longer I was able to attend school again and play softball. My hair started growing and during the six months of my treatment with Jimmy I grew 3 inches.
Jimmy was never mean to me and never lost his temper like some of my previous doctors. He treated me like a daughter and never tried to deceive me about how this shot or that one was going to feel. Again, this was totally unlike my previous doctors who would pump a drug into me and forget to tell me about the side effects (which in one case had me throwing up stomach acid for 2 hours straight).
At Jimmy's clinic I witnessed miracles. I met a woman who came into the clinic with over 100 tumors on her body. One particularly had one that was growing on her tongue that made it very difficult for her to speak. During her treatment with him her tumors would fall right off her body. She came in one day with the tumor that had been on her tongue in a plastic baggy, very excited that she could speak normally again. The whole clinic cheered.
With Jimmy's help I was able to recover my strength and health. I was able to continue my life as a healthy individual. I owe my life to this man. I am 21 years old, and I am training to be a minister. I frequently work with charity groups and children. Without Jimmy I could not contribute like this, as I would not be here, alive today. I am at a loss for words when I try to express my gratitude for this man. It is somewhat confusing to me that such a decent man with the urge to heal and the desire to help is in jail. I hope and pray that you will judge this man by the goodness of his actions and by the many lives he's saved.
Respectfully Yours,
(Signed) Melissa Wattman

Dear Judge Frank J. Polozola:
I have known Mr. Jimmy Keller for over 12 years. I met him on a number of occasions and I was most impressed with his knowledge and abilities.
Mr. Keller is a human of the highest quality. He is an asset to our country. This man contracted incurable cancer. Through his tenacity and persistence he acquired knowledge that allowed him to cure himself and he offered his knowledge to others. One has to see the quantity of people he helped outside of this country. Any law that he may have broken should be weighed by your Honor against the facts mentioned above. Many people he treated are alive today and can testify for him.
Your Honor's decision should also reflect the fact that modern medicine has nothing to offer to the unfortunates stricken with these conditions. Jimmy Keller's treatment could become
the standard medical treatment in the future for the dreadful infirmities we see today.
Jimmy has helped the poor when they could not afford to pay. He is a giving and caring human being who jeopardized his own freedom because of his sincere concern of others.
GOD BLESS YOU.
Very sincerely,
Emil Levin, M.D.

Dear Judge Frank J. Polozola:
This letter is written with great concern for Jimmy Keller, the most unselfish person I have ever met. Hopefully this letter will communicate to you the moral character and strength of a man who lived through the devastating and destructive disease of melanoma cancer. After his recovery from cancer not once but twice, Jimmy dedicated his life to helping others. His warm and gentle nature, always willing to help the sick and dying. Jimmy truly understands what it is like to be told by your doctor, "YOU HAVE CANCER."
I was diagnosed by my doctor over fourteen (14) years ago that I had cancer and should have a complete abdominal hysterectomy immediately. This diagnosis and recommended treatment was confirmed by a second medical doctor. I went to Jimmy for approximately 2-1/2 weeks in 1983, took his treatment and I have never had the recommended surgery that my doctors said was necessary to save my life. In his clinic I observed that cancer patients were getting remarkably better and their self confidence was returning. I remember a young man having a large tumor on his neck and when he came out of Jimmy's office the tumor was nearly flat! Jimmy never turned anyone away because they could not afford his treatment. I was very touched by his generosity. He is truly a humanitarian. [Etc.]
Sincerely and Respectfully,
Bonnie A. Cayer

Dear Judge Polozola:
A terrible accident takes place on a rural road. You're jogging by and witness it. One passenger cannot breathe needs trachea opened. One passenger has severed a major artery and is bleeding profusely. You've seen tracheotomies performed and think you can do it, but you're not licensed. Their car cannot be moved. There is one within yards of the accident but no one is home. The house is locked; the vehicle has the keys in it; but it's not yours and you don't have a driver's license anyway. One person is suffocating, the other is bleeding to death. Action on your part could save them. Inaction on your part means certain death. Their eyes and sounds are pleading with you to help. You, however, will not break the laws that stand in the way of your helping these people. They die.
Who of us would not have tried to do something? You? Me? . . . James Keller has had the knowledge and the means to help individuals with cancer and I thank God that he did not withhold it for fear of personal repercussions. Much to the dismay of those who love him, Mr. Keller has risked his freedom, perhaps for the rest of his life, for no other reason than to try to help others.
My mother was diagnosed with Stage 4 ovarian cancer in August of 1992. Her chances of survival, according to medical statistics and her personal oncologist, were very small. She was given approximately two years to live. During those first two years my mother endured 27 chemotherapy treatments and five major surgeries. She was very near death with an estimated two months to live. In a wheelchair and barely able to expend the effort to talk, my mother was taken overseas to receive treatment not allowed here. She returned one month later able to walk, drive, shop, go to church, basically leading a normal life, not cancer free but functioning well for several months. Her oncologist here said it was a miracle he could not explain. That began our quest into "alternative," non-toxic treatments available, if not legal, here in the United States. After much research and experimentation with treatments not approved by the conventional medical community, we found Mr. Keller, "Jimmy."
Jimmy discussed the treatments he could provide with my mother and my father, a very educated and intelligent man, a cynic, a man motivated by proven fact and not hypothetical. He and my mother decided to give Jimmy's methods a try. As with the overseas treatment, no cure was promised. The treatment and accompanying diet had to become part of an ongoing lifestyle
to be effective.Jimmy treated my mother at great risk to himself and with no mention of money. Only after it appeared that my mother was responding did my father insist that some payment be
made. My father, not Jimmy, pursued the issue of money. After a time, my mother again began to succumb to the cancer. Jimmy's treatments then served to alleviate her pain without rendering her incapable of enjoying the visits of her friends and family. Ultimately my mother died. However, her cancer was controlled for nearly two years beyond her expected life span by the use of "alternative" treatments not allowed by the medical community, the FDA, or the legal system. I thank God for those individuals who unselfishly put themselves at personal risk to give us the additional time we had with my mother. Jimmy is one of those people.
I know of several individuals who have been treated by Jimmy over the years. One woman had done well for over six years and then stopped taking the treatment. Her son told me that she had stopped because she was afraid of Jimmy's getting into trouble with the law if he kept on taking the chances he was taking. Once she stopped, the cancer ran its course. The doctor in the hospital just a day before this woman died told me that she apparently knew of her cancer years ago but "did not do anything about it." He was astounded that she had lived as long as she had. He could not imagine what had kept her alive. I could only look at him and nod. I could not share the secret that had saved her life for so long. Now Jimmy has been removed from those who need him. People who don't have to die now will die. First they will suffer. I have seen it and I know it doesn't have to happen as it does.
What exactly has Jimmy done that is a crime? He never promised a cure; he never used illegal drugs; he never personally profited from another's illness. Just what did he do? He violated his probation, sort of like when Jesus healed the sick on the Sabbath.
Please consider these things in your sentencing of Jimmy. I thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Cherine B. Schofield

Your Honor,
I am writing on behalf of Jimmy Keller. I have known him for many years, and have seen some of the incredible things he has done for people who came to him in need. I have literally seen people get out of their death beds after only a few weeks of his treatments. It is incredible to me that someone such as Mr. Keller is persecuted so viciously when he has done so much good. I might add that he did much of it for nothing. I would also like to add that his treatments used only the most advanced natural formulations that are in use in almost every other country in the world.
The United States should end this absurd prejudice against someone who has done so much good. He is only trying to help others. Please allow him to do that.
Regards,
(Signed) Robert K. Baird

Your Honor:
With this letter, I hope to inform you of Jimmy Keller's worthiness and good character. On August 18, 1988, Jimmy Keller successfully treated me for cancer of the breast and lymph system. On this date, I visited his clinic in Tijuana, Mexico. At 12:00 p.m. I sat down in his chair with a lump in my left breast and one under my left arm. With a brief treatment of the miraculous serum Jimmy had developed of all-natural substances (i.e., no drugs), at 12:06 p.m. on the clock, both lumps were gone and never returned. Not everyone has had as fantastic a result as I had but then I'm the only one who seems to have looked at the clock at the time.
Jimmy's patients at the clinic at that time were usually rid of cancer and other degenerative diseases on a regular basis, ordinarily within three weeks of beginning treatment. I referred many patients to him as did doctors who sent their patients to him as a "court of last resort" when their own treatments failed. While at the clinic, I witnessed daily miracles of patients who otherwise would not have survived. My own father had 9 years of a recurring throat cancer which was treated in the standard way by medical doctors. His recurring cancer was ended with Jimmy's treatment. Six years later he developed lung cancer and was unable to seek Jimmy's help because Jimmy had been incarcerated. Not wishing to submit to surgery, chemotherapy or radiation, my father died.
Jimmy's life has been spent in service of others. It is very difficult for him not to help another person when he has the ability to do so. He is a supremely honorable man whose heartfelt caring for his fellow man outweighs any concern for his own life and liberty. He cannot stand aside and watch another person die an evil death if he can be of help.
Personally, I consider Jimmy Keller a national treasure. He has paid his debt to society, if there ever was a debt at all. Please protect this healer who only wishes to help his neighbor and let justice prevail.
Sincerely,
Carol R. Austin
