A Karl Loren Comment Exclusively For
The Primal Diet  EGroup List -- Page 1

Pages:  ..1..  ..2..  ..3..  ..4..  ..5..  ..6..  ..7..

This is a comment intended for those who follow a link I have provided in a posting on the Live Food eGroup List.  This page would not normally be found except because of a link on a posting on the list.  (Click on the link if you are not a member and want to be or subscribe in the box below.)

I have been reading and enjoying the various postings, and will continue.

I want to be a bit careful about appearing to try to commercialize from any of my postings, so have decided to put a bunch of stuff HERE where you can read it if you wish, or not as you wish.  It is NOT on the eGroup posting, but it is connected.

Generally I may well offer my opinions and data in my postings, but I expect to refrain from offering links to any of my 13,000 web pages -- even if I think they are germane to some issue on our list.

I'll be learning what degree of sensitivity is appropriate here.

Here are come general rules about me.

1.  Anything I post on the Live Food List is open for copying and sending to any number of others.  I do not ask that any of my material be restricted in any way.    My 13,000 published pages each include a copyright notice that all are free to download, print, and disseminate in any way as long as my name remains attached and as long as the meaning of my material is not altered.

2.  I do expect to abide by the Group policy that I will not use any material of some posting for any purpose outside the group.  (But, you see, you are welcome to do that with any of my stuff.)

3.  I honor and admire Aajonus and would never expect to be critical of him, nor even disagree with him on this list.  I will gently try to discourage internal criticism of the RAF diet within the group.  Those who disagree may read, but I think they should not use this forum to try to sell other answers.

4.  I make my living by researching, writing and publishing on health issues, and by selling vitamin formulas of my own design.  I understand, and do not disagree with, Aajonus' position, generally, that vitamins are not necessary with the RAF diet, and may be even harmful.   When I say I do not disagree, that doesn't mean I agree with him on this.  I routinely recommend this diet to many people, knowing that some of them may discontinue buying my vitamins.  It has happened, but my own view is that far many more people are not ready to get on the RAF diet and for many of them vitamins may still be a good answer, while improving their diet in other ways than raw.

5.  I have published more than 3,000 pages on diet.  I would not say that it is the Aajonus Diet, nor would I deny that it centers around his concepts.  I am aware of some elements of my diet writing that don't seem to be covered by Aajonus.  I am working toward developing the "Karl Loren  Diet" which would give full acknowledgment to Aajonus, but be its own thing.  For instance, I think it is more valuable to mankind that I help persuade 1,000,000 people to stop eating sugar than that I persuade 1,000 people to start on raw meat.  So, my diet concepts are very heavily oriented toward the simple things which most RAFers have learned long ago -- that you must get off sugar, sodas, junk foods, and increase your protein rather than carbohydrates.  I think that the protein should be raw, but before a person is ready for that, there is probably a level where more cooked protein, rather than more cooked carbohydrates is a good direction to take.

6.  As I have been in some other groups like this, I expect to find a very few people making up the bulk of the postings.  That is natural and the health of our list is greatly enhanced by having Vinny Pinto as one of those whose postings seem to provide the majority of column inches.

7.  I happen to love Father Goose, too.

8.  I offer the links on this page to leave this page to explore any or all of my 7 web sites, but I am definitely not soliciting your business or even your interest in my materials.  But, neither am I interested in hiding my stuff -- I'm proud of it.  What I've written on diet is in no way connected to any commercial interest I have -- many of my thousands of pages are philosophical and educational -- rather than commercial.

Enjoy,

Karl Loren

Addition on January 22, 2001

I will add a couple more matters here.

I've been in groups like this where personal and destructive attacks are sometimes placed within the postings. Such behavior, in my experience, drives people away from the list.  I suggest it is only civil and expected that no posting will ever include any personal attack on any member.  Disagreements, even strong disagreements, never have to include personal attacks.

If I should be personally attacked, I would NOT think it proper to respond on the list, but only in private.

Should I see someone else being attacked, again I would NOT think it right to comment on the list, but for either of the two above situations I might well write privately to the attacking person, suggesting that he modify his behavior.

Since our group has no "moderator" it can only grow if it is "self-policed."  In this we each have a responsibility and I suggest that we each subscribe to the rule I follow for myself -- no personal attacks, and only private reminders of this rule to those to may be violating it.

February 21, 2001.  I quit the original group because I thought it was too lenient on those who abused the membership.

Others felt the same way.

We are now in a new group -- come joing.
