Hi, Everyone,
Here's the scoop.
I spoke with two of the Board of Supervisors' Health Deputies. The intelligent Health Deputy for Knabe said that the Supervisors had received the Health Services report but that it only sited bacterial incidences of raw cheese "epidemic" in CA but not raw milk. The Health Deputies returned it for better scientific and medical argument to support their stance against the Motion to allow Grade A and Guaranteed raw milk into LA County. What that means is that the Health Services could not justify their anti-Grade A and anti-Guaranteed raw milk stance. That is good for us. Health Services' only alternative is to conjure some deaths attributed to raw milk, but scientifically unsupported, or gather enough doctors and biologists who are bacteria-phobic to intellectualize against raw milk. We can combat either because it is only speculation, and laws, ultimately, are not supposed to be based on speculation. Both Health Deputies agreed that they would postpone any act by the Supervisors to give us a chance to counter the report.
I faxed each Health Deputy a package of info that they must consider.
None of them were given a copy of our Petition to Uphold Antonovich's Motion and our Petitioners' Appeal Against Yaroslavsky's Amendment.
From now until Jan. 29th, when the report is due, I will be gathering more info for the Health Deputies.
However, the Health Deputy for Yaroslavsky said that no matter if the science of the report is weak and/or flawed that Yaroslavsky will act in favor of the report against allowing Grade A and Guaranteed raw milk into LA County. It is likely that Burke and Molina will follow his lead, acting against raw milk. I reason that if I can get the other Health Deputies to doubt the educated prejudice against raw milk, they might advise their respective Supervisors to act against the report. If this does not happen and they act against it we have lost and exhausted the legislative process. Our last alternative is in the courts.
Our volunteer Attorney Roger Noorthoek has paved that road for us and we are almost ready to file a Writ of Mandate.
We still need donations. Only 10 people have sent donations. We thank those people. The rest of us might reconsider and support this very important-to-our-health issue.
Please send donations to:
