Facing The Facts
by Claudia Jemal
All attempts to get slim at the moment seem grim
I suspect that it could be my fault
for if dessert perusal did lead to refusal
instead of just having that malt,
I would sashay around never thinking of pounds
and behave with my usual caprice
Id incite free for alls, get appreciative calls
from designers and fashion police
My desire for chicness is dashed by my weakness
for sugar and other sweet stuff
Id consider it wise if I could realize
in my dreams is where I will be buff.
So enchanted am I by a fresh key lime pie
or absorbed in my daydreams of cake
I get carried away by a rich creme brulee
till its more than I think I can take.
I am over my head with a warm loaf of bread
and transported by visions of Twinkies
and Id forsake the truth for a small Baby Ruth
and abandon all hope to be slinky.
Though the clock is against me, the truth has incensed me.
I survey the scene of the crime.
I look down at my thighs, There is no compromise,
So much chocolate and so little time!
