Message Of Personal Philosophy From Aajonus Vonderplanitz

Source:  Message from Aajonus received October 1, 2002

Let me say, here and now, that I accept Aajonus Vonderplanitz as "my senior" in matters of diet.  That does not mean I "believe" him, but that I accept him.  I consider Aajonus a friend.  He and I differ on some items that are important to each of us.  But, from his message below you see how he rationalizes a difference such as these.

He simply, I suppose, would say that I am choosing to experiment with a journey until I discover that it is not the way to travel, or perhaps until I have proven its efficacy.  In any event I am quite comfortable with recommending that you consider Aajonus senior to me on matters of diet.

I have written things about diet that are not included, as far as I know, within Aajonus' texts.  In any event, I am also comfortable following my own path, for now, as I look for the optimum way.

In the mean time I suggest you read my stuff, that you read his stuff, and that you choose your own path.

I did not attend the potluck Aajonus mentions below.  I have hosted one of these potlucks in my own home.  I would consider it highly unethical to attend one of "his" potlucks with any purpose to persuade others to follow someone other than Aajonus.  Whether I agree with him or not, it would be rude and unethical to steal into his groups for the purpose of proselytizing.

I do not know and have never met this Mr. Hopson referenced below.

Regards,

Karl Loren

(from Aajonus Vonderplanitz)

Hi, everyone,

Since my return from NY/NJ area on Thursday, Sept. 26th, I received numerous calls regarding the latest natural healer to enter the Primal Diet group, ushered by my ex-student James Hopson. I welcome any healer who assists people in healing. I hope, by no means that I am considered the final knowledge and advisor of optimal healing. I welcome anyone who can help the human race from the suffering that accompanies most diseases without side- effects, trading one disease for another or creating more disease.

Months before now, I heard through the grape vine, not from James Hopson himself, although I had spoken with him regularly, that he was exploring another individuals path to quick and instant health. I waited for him to tell me. I continued to tell people that I cheered James on whatever path was necessary for his journey to be a healer. A profound healer will have faced the truths more personally. He would learn by experience and knowledge would be his to his core. I learned that James' guru was insisting that my methods were wrong and that his were the only way. Again, I said to those who inquired, that James might be on to something or must learn the hard way. Part of learning in the health field is to be seduced into believing that a particular way is the correct way, so that you explore it passionately. If the explorer comes up empty-handed or short of what is promised, the explorer will understand and explore until s/he is satisfied or faces more disease or a dead-end.

It was reported to me that James' guru/healer proclaims to be the ultimate healer. Several people who contacted me about him claim that he lacks humility and is arrogant to a fault, and do not like him at all. That is not of consequence. Arrogant people have been known to help others. His effectiveness is important. If his advice improves health, I welcome his advice. However, some of the advice that he is giving is completely contrary to my experience. For instance, I was told that he proclaims that drinking juice is unnatural. He claims that no other animal juices his food. Does the guru drive a car to get where he is going quicker? Dogs, cats, monkeys and apes chew grass and/or leaves and most often spit out the pulp. Is that not juicing? A juicer, like a car, makes it easier and less time-consuming. As I have stated for many years, experimentation proved to me that juicing vegetables is the only way I found to obtain an abundance of live bioactive vitamin, enzymes and minerals. The guru claims that people should follow the paleo-style dietary-thinking and eat as primitives did and cook some of their food. None of this is new. Weston Price, Sally Fallon and Ron Schmid have been postulating that for some time. Just because it has been done does not make it good for health. As I stated in my new book, we have scientific proof that toxins form by cooking food. Those toxins have been proved to causes diseases. The more foods are cooked - higher temperatures and/or longer time cooked - the more and worse are the toxins. Does the guru have a magical power to change this law of physics and biochemistry? He would not be a nutritional healer, he would be a psychic healer.

I am told that he uses kinesiology as his testing method. I discarded kinesiology after I was introduced to it by UCLA-affiliate Dr. James Rota in 1978. It is done, usually, by placing a food, supplement or object-in-question into a person's hand and extending her/his other hand with the arm completely outstretched at her/his side. The out-stretched arm is pushed down near the wrist. If a strong resistance occurs, the held object is considered favorable. If the arm falls weakly, easily, the object is considered unfavorable. Then you may ask for quantities to consume. Strength of resistance is considered to be a "yes" to quantity stated before pressure is asserted downwardly. I experimented with it for two years with 7 people. The results differed with whomever performed the tests. I thought, maybe, some people who were more psychically inclined would have better results with it. By the end of my two-years exploration, that too, did not prove to be true. Using kinesiology, I tested positive for several all natural vitamin supplements. At the time, 1977, I had not consumed supplements since 1972. I had begun eating raw meat in September 1976 and eating lots of raw dairy. I was doing the best in my life, running 3-13 miles, 250 pushups with feet elevated 2-3 feet above the round and 30-50 hand-stand pushups against the wall daily. After 9 months following what kinesiology lead me to eat, I had become weak and unable to continue my exercise routine. For the next three months I discarding the kinesiology-inspired use of supplements and returned to eating all raw foods, my energy increased and I was able to easily continue exercise. I continued to try kinesiology only with raw food for over a year with an overall decrease in health, more digestive problems and unrelenting detoxifications. On one health seeker who had emphysema, kinesiology was insistent that cigarettes was healthy for him. He died 19 months later after he continued to smoke. I began testing people with known poisonous material in herbal bottles so that the person tested did not know what was in them. Many tested positive for them and in doses that would have killed them in minutes. Of course, I did not experiment by giving them the poison to validate kinesiology. Generally, I found that kinesiology is not only unreliable but dangerous. There may be exceptions but I have not met anyone who proved it to me.

The healer also has told many people on the diet that their disease is rooted in their belief system. From 1969-1978, I explored that thinking led by Louise Hays and the Seth material. Naturally, disease rarely correlated with the changes of thinking that were said to have caused the disease(s). Most people who adapted that philosophy did not improve and suffered tremendous guilt and more stress. Stress usurped more nutrients and they became chronically stressed and often severely depressed to the point of suicide. It was a catch-22. I realized that expecting repairs of biologically-functioning parts of the body by thoughts was as effective as expecting a poor-running car to run smoothing after chanting and profound realizations. I learned from trial and error that thoughts and realizations affect stress-levels but do not reverse disease unless by miracle. I have not witness any of that kind of miracle.

The true test of the effectiveness of anything, including diet, is people getting better and sharing it with others. Purposely, I have not sought and pursued advertising. I believe that it is unconscionable for James Hopson to continue to postulate to people on the Primal Diet that his guru's recommendations and methods are superior to the wonderful results that the Primal Diet has achieved over the years, especially for him. I saw James Hopson on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, at the Primal Potluck after he had been following his guru's information for several months. He looked emaciated with drying skin and slightly slouching as he had before he started the Primal Diet almost 3 years ago. He talked to people behind my back at the potluck, postulating his new guru. He has been promoting people on the Primal Diet to askew me and follow his new guru who has no substantial history of healing with his methods as the Primal Diet has. The true test of his guru's healing talents would be to advise people who are not already on the Primal Diet and who are very diseased. Why target and experiment on people who are already getting well? I had hoped that, if nothing else, I had taught James integrity when dealing with diseased people. I failed. Because I am human, I am emotionally hurt. I apologize to all of you.

If any of you are compelled to try the new healer, I understand the need to experiment and explore. I cannot be offended by the choices you must make for yourself. My intent with this missive was to draw out of everyone the same degree of skepticism with facts as has been the seduction of promises. I wish everyone the best of health and peace of body, mind and soul.

lovingly, aajonus
