NEW YORK, Oct. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Today Kellogg's(R) Pop-Tarts(R) unveiled the World's largest Pop-Tarts toaster pastry to commemorate their upcoming 35th anniversary and to announce exciting new product news. Although the oversized toaster pastry measured 25' x 35' and took more than four hours to construct, it took a lot less time to eat! The World's Largest Pop-Tarts toaster pastry was made in the No. 1 flavor -- strawberry -- which Pop-Tarts recently enhanced with even more strawberry flavor and aroma.
In total, it took more than 545 pounds of flour, 495 pounds of fruit filling, 800 pounds of icing and 150 pounds of colored sprinkles to create the giant-sized toaster pastry. The oversized snack was unveiled at a press conference in front of the famed Madison Square Garden in New York City, where morning commuters were treated to tasting this record-breaking creation.
Today's new product announcements are Pop-Tarts(R) Pastry Swirls, a new round shape made with a light, flaky pastry, drizzled with frosting and available in three mouth-watering flavors -- Strawberry, Apple Cinnamon and Cheese Danish; improved strawberry (best strawberry taste ever); and Kellogg's(R) Pop-Tarts(R) Wild Tropical Blast(TM) with a delicious tropical fruit-punch filling, aqua-blue frosting and special shark-shaped crunchlettes.
Pop-Tartologist and pop culture author, Jack Mingo, was on hand to pay tribute to this American icon and to tell the story of how Pop-Tarts have withstood the test of time for nearly 35 years.
